Regan, Goneril and Edmund have a love triangle that can only end badly. Goneril is interested in Edmund when they first meet and is very unsatisfied with her marriage and decided to ask Edmund to kill her husband. Regan become interested in Edmund I believe because her sister is interested in him and she wants what her sister wants. Regan also loses her husband and Edmund is a strong character and she feels that he will be a good replacement. Edmund, I believe, was probably feeding into both relationships as since he was a bastard and had felt worthless much of his life, marrying either one would allow him to have a legitimate inheritance and power.
