Within the Hall of Heorot, brave warriors would take part in eating, singing, and revelry when they returned from battle. It functioned as a place where traditions could be carried out and the people could share a sense of community.
The Herot Hall was built for King Hrothgar after he had won many battles and had many loyal followers. The Hall was built for many celebrations (drinking & feasting) for the King and his warriors and was the greatest Hall (palace) ever built. Grendel was attacking and killing King Hrothgar's warriors in the Hall at nights and the fight between Beowulf and Grendel took place in Herot Hall. The Hall was destroyed by a fire possibly by Ingeld.
In the hall Herot the people come together to sing, worship, eat, drink and overall just party. In the hall Herot, Beowulf also fights Grendel. The hall was built for the King to live, and it resembles a palace type architecture.
Heorot was was mead-hall designed to be spectacular and unchallenged in architecture throughout the world. Built by Hrothgar, it would be a showcase of his royalty, and also a place where people would gather for food and merriment. Later it would become the location of Beowulf and Grendel's vicious battle, where Beowulf slays Grendel. Grendel's mother would later come back in a vengeance while Beowulf was away. There she would display her revenge on the people for killing her offspring. Heorot was eventually destroyed by the "barbarous burning" that took place during a raid according to the subtext on pg. 43.
The hall was a place for people to get together and party. It was destroyed by a fire during the after the battle with Grendel by an unknown person, but shortly after a large battle. I think the fire represents starting over, the rebirth of the country side after the death of Grendel.
Herot hall was a gathering place where people congrugated to party! It was built by Hrothgar to represent his royalty. It became a monumental place as it was where Beowulf and Grendel battled. The beautiful hall was destroyed by Ingeld.
